The Corner House Day Nursery Bournemouth

Aims and Philosophy

At the Corner House Day Nursery we believe a child flourishes best in a happy, caring and loving environment where he/she feels secure within a positive routine. We represent an extended family, helping to lay the foundations in a safe and relaxed atmosphere, for all future efforts to build upon and most importantly, give peace of mind to our parents.

We operate an open door policy, where if parents need to discuss any matter whatsoever, relating to their child, they are welcome to do so at any time.

At The Corner House Day Nursery children learn to care for themselves and each other and show respect for everyone, regardless of race or ability, treating everyone equally. They will learn to develop self discipline and confidence and to express themselves, communicate and develop through play.

We will give children praise, encouragement and patience with positive role modeling to enable your child to flourish and develop all the necessary skills to be proud of their achievements as happy and confident individuals.

The Nursery operates a Key Worker system. Each child has a Key Worker who is a member of staff that is responsible for monitoring your child's progress and development and recording this information in your child's learning journey. In the Baby and Toddler rooms a daily sheet is sent home, which records the activities which your child has participated in that day, what their sleep times were and their food and milk intake. Staff will also record on this sheet any achievements your child has made. In the Pre-school room we encourage the children to tell the parents all about their day. When parents collect their child at the end of the day staff will verbally give an overview of the day and this is an ideal time for parents or carers to ask any questions which they may have.

We operate an Equal Opportunities Policy throughout. We believe that no parent, child or staff member should be excluded from the nursery on the grounds of religious persuasion, ethnic origin, gender or disability. The staff as part of their role as educators in your child's life see the importance of teaching the children all about the world.

On our recent report OFSTED commented that:
"Resources and activities provide positive images of cultural diversity, providing children with opportunities to learn about the wider world"
